Indian Premier League is also abbreviated as IPL. It is one of the most popular domestic Twenty20 tournaments not only in India but also in rest of the world. The tournament is been administrated by Board of Control for Cricket in India or BCCI. The tournament has been started in the year 2008 and the next tournament is been scheduled in 2013. The most successful team of IPL has been Chennai Super Kings with 2 wins in five tournaments. Rajasthan Royals were the inaugural champions of IPL 2008 and Kolkata Knight Riders are the current champions. The tournament is been organized every year in the month of April and May. In an IPL team only 4 overseas players are allowed in the playing 11, and for the rest of the team it is mandatory to keep Indian players. Presently there are nine teams which participate in this tournament. Indian Premier League 2013 is starting from April 3, 2013 and will end on May 26, 2013. Sun Risers will be new team instead of Deccan Chargers.
The 6th season the IPL was more or less a similar year for the Bangalore-based team. The team started their stint in the series with a win against Mumbai Indians and the second match against Sunrisers Hyderabad was a tie. Interestingly, the team’s third match was against the Hyderabad team as well and this time RCB won. The team also won the next match against Kolkata Knight Riders but lost to Chennai Super Kings in the 5th match. Of the 16 matches played, RCB won at 9 and finished at the 5th position on the points table.
The 2013 IPL season was more or less the same edition for the Punjab team. However, that was the first season when the team won its first match in a IPL session. The team won against Pune Warriors India but lost out on the next two matches against Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. They again won against Kolkata Knight Riders in the 4th match but lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Out of the 16 matches played, the team could win in 8. KXIP were unable to make it to the Playoffs and again ended up in the 6th position on the points table. However, it’s to note here, one of the principal batsmen from the squad, David Miller, gifted one of the best innings of the IPL ever, scoring 101 off just 38 balls- including 7 sixes and 8 fours.
