IPL 2011 i.e. IPL 4 will start from April 8, 2011 and the IPL 2011 final will be played on May 28, 2011. Total 10 IPL 2011 teams are participating in this tournament.
The Bangalore-squad began the 4th season of the League with a number of grand purchases, including the likes of Tilakratne Dilshan, Daniel Vettori, Ryan ten Doeschate, AB de Villiers, Dirk Nannes and Cheteshwar Pujara. However, when Nannes was injured, ace hitter Chris Gayle was brought as a replacement. The team began their season with a win against Kochi Tuskers Kerala. But, they lost in the next 3 matches and the 5th match ended up with no result. However, the team bounced back again under Vettori’s solid leadership and went on to win 7 matches on a row. Their incredible performance got them to Playoffs and they reached the semi-finals in full glory. At the second qualifying final, they defeated Mumbai Indians which took them right to the 4th IPL final. However, they lost out to Chennai Super Kings in the final and ended up as runner-up.
The 4th season of the Indian Premier League was comparatively a better year for the Punjab Kings. The team came up with a high profile team with Adam Gilchrist as the skipper and Michael Bevan as the coach. They lost their first match against Pune Warriors India but won 3 back-to-back matches Chennai Super Kings, Deccan Chargers and Rajasthan Royals. After that, they lost out on the following 5 matches against DD, KKR, MI, RCB and PWI. Of the 14 matchers played, the Punjab team could manage to win 7. Unfortunately, they couldn’t secure a berth in Playoffs by just one victory and ended up in the 5th position on the points table.
