Over the last one decade, India have tried several openers in T20Is. Many of them have represented India in World T20 also. However, the magical right hand and left hand combination of Virender Sehwag & Gautam Gambhir happened to be the most successful opening combination in this tournament. But unfortunately, neither of them represents team India anymore and instead the likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma open the innings for Indian team across all formats.
In the history of T20 World Cup, India recorded only one hundred-run partnership and that too during the inaugural editions of the T20 World Cup in 2007. Over the last 8 years, India couldn’t score three-figure-mark for the first wicket despite repeated attempts. The 136-run partnership between Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag is the highest 1st wicket partnership for India in World T20 Championship.
