In the history of World T20 Championship, India have always been a force to reckon with. MS Dhoni stunned the world when India beat Pakistan at a nail-biting match in Johannesburg in the first T20 World Cup held in 2007. Not many people have noticed the contribution of India’s third wicket partnership in the entire tournament, but that played a major part in bringing a world cup to India after a gap of around 24 years since 1983. One man who made it possible was Yuvraj Singh. The ace all-rounder played some wonderful knocks in the middle order helping India clinch the coveted trophy.
Out of India’s seven plus fifty run partnerships for the third wicket, Yuvraj Singh was involved in all of them and played some crucial knocks at number four since 2007 at this format. In fact, the 88-run partnership between Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh in World T20 2010 is the highest run stand for this wicket. It’s still unbroken. Then again we have 84-run stand between Robin Uthappa and Yuvraj Singh for the third wicket at a match against Australia in 2007 World T20 Championship at Durban. However, over the last few years, Virat Kohli is also chipping in well and played brilliantly in T20 World Cup alongside Yuvraj Singh.
