As per the confirmation of BCCI in December 2022, India will welcome the Australian team in the upcoming month of Feb and Mar 2023. Australia cricket has also stated their schedule of being in India for playing 3 ODI matches series against India in March 2023. All the 3 ODIs will be held in three different locations in India i.e, Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, and Chennai. The India vs Australia ODI series 2023 will kick off with the first ODI at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Mar 17, Fri, then both teams will travel to Visakhapatnam in order to play 2nd ODI at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium on Mar 19, Sun and the final encounter between both the teams will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Mar 22, Wed.
Currently, the final team lineup for Ind vs Aus ODI series 2023 is on hold or yet to be declared but most probably, Rohit Sharma will play the leading role of the Indian side whereas Pat Cummins will serve the role of captain for Australia. In terms of ICC ranking in ODI India is standing at the number 4th position whereas Australia is holding the 3rd position.
Australia visited India in 2019/20 last time for playing the 3 ODI series where they had to face defeat by 2-1. But the last ODI series between Australia and India was held in 2020/21 when India traveled to Australia to play 3 ODI series where the Indian team was defeated by Australia with a margin of 2-1. So, this series will be crucial for both teams as both have won their previous ODI series in their homeland. In terms of head-to-head in ODI matches, India and Australia have faced each other on 143 occasions where India won 53 matches only, and lost 80 matches. So, it would be interesting to watch how Australia will perform on the slow pace surface of Indian pitches and face Indian seamers and spinners.
