Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced to launch its high profile T20 league like IPL this year. LPL 2020 will start from November 26 and the LPL final will be played on December 16, 2020. Total 23 matches will be played in this year's LPL T20. Total 5 teams will be participating in LPL T20 tournament. Innovative Production Group IPG has won the total rights for LPL 2020, LPL 2021, LPL 2022, LPL 2023 and LPL 2024 combined for 5 years. Two Indian players will play in LPL 2020, Manvinder Bisla and Manpreet Gony and both have already played in IPL. Faf Du Plesis, Colin Ingram, David Miller from South Africa are also participating in LPL T20. Players from England and West Indies are also playing in this new league. Almost eight players from Pakistan will play in this Lanka Premier League and it will be fun to watch them perform against Indian players.
First Team Galle Gladiators,Moin Khan is the Head Coach and Lasith Malinga is the icon player for Galle Gladiators. Owner of this team is Pakistan based Nadeem Omar who also owns PSL T20 team, Quetta Gladiators.
Second Team - Kandy Tuskers. Kusal Perera is the Icon player for Kandy Tuskers.
Third Team - Jaffna Stallions. Thisara Parera is the Icon player for Jaffna Stallions.
Fourth Team - Dambulla Hawks. Dasun Shanaka is the Icon player for Dambulla Hawks.
Fifth Team - Colombo Kings. Angelo Mathews is the Icon player for Colombo Kings.
LPL 2020 will be played in following two stadiums.
- Pallekele International Cricket Stadium and
- Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium.
Most Awaited Lanka Premier League is starting from 14th November this year after so much delay and finally the players auction is announced by Sri Lankan Cricket Board. LPL 2020 Player Auction was held on 19 October 2020. Total five teams are participating in LPL T20 2020 and each LPL teams can buy maximum of 6 international players.
