Seekkuge Prasanna was born on the 7th of June 1985 in Balapitiya. A one of a kind all rounder, Prasanna is a right handed batsman and bowls legbreak. He received his formal education from Balapitiya’s Rewatha College.
With his consistent performance, Prasanna went up to be selected in the Sri Lanka Army team in 2006. Prasanna played his first List A match at the age of 21. It was against Lankan Cricket Club on November 6th 2006 at Colombo. He conceded 23 runs and bagged 3 wickets. Soon after he debuted in First Class match against Lankan Cricket Club on November 17th 2006. Here he couldn’t take any wicket but scored 28. He continued his performance in List A matches and was selected for the Sri Lankan Team to play against Australia in 2011. His first ODI was against the Aussies on 20th August 2011 at Colombo. He bowled 6 overs, gave 32 runs and took 3 wickets at an economy of 5.33. His Test debut was also against Australia in 2011. Prasanna played his first T20 at Dubai against Pakistan in the year 2013. Sri Lanka won the match by 24 runs and Prasanna scored 21 runs and took 2 wickets in 3 overs. In his List A career Prasanna has played 45 matches wherein he has picked up 73 wickets.
Prasanna has represented Southern Express, Sri Lanka Board XI, Sri Lanka Army, Kandurata and Sri Lanka National team on various occasions.
