Twenty-twenty cricket is a strange format where even the number eighth or ninth batsman is expected to hit some huge shots down the order as and when a team needed. And there is no doubt quite a few times these lower order batsman including tailenders have successfully contributed to the scoreboard for their teams. May be, in the history of world T20 championship there are only two instances when a batting pair could add plus 50-run stands for the eighth wicket, but still we find a lot of useful 30s and 40s for the eighth wicket partnership which is certainly a bonus for any team.
Out of these two plus 50-run partnerships, there were a specialized batsman in both the occasions. The highest eighth wicket stand of unbeaten 53-run has been recorded by the Aussie batting pair of Mike Hussey and Mitchell Johnson. In a match between Pakistan and Australia in World T20 2010, the Kangaroo team at one stage was 7 for 144 with still 15-16 balls remaining. It was during this time that Mike Hussey and Mitchell Johnson played aggressive cricket adding 53* more runs in just 16 balls to take the scoreboard from 144 to a huge total of 197 at the end of 20 overs.
