The fourth match between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan was played on 22nd October at the same venue ion Bulawayo. The tourists who were trailing in the series by 2-1 won the match by 3 wickets to make it 2-2 and set up an enthralling final encounter. Hosts won the toss and they decided to bat first however the tourists had other ideas. DAWLAT ZADRAN was on target right from the start of the innings catching MUTUMBAMI, the previous match hero in front of the wicket for plum LBW for a paltry score of 11 and later on he also scalped CR ERVINE cheaply. Hosts were in dire straits as half of the team was back in the hut with only 77 runs on the board.
SIKANDAR RAZA stood like a rock in the middle order and scored 86 runs of 113 balls to help Zimbabwe in positing a decent total of 186 in the allotted 50 over. Lower down the order Jongwe also contributed with a valuable innings of 22 runs. Dawlat ZADRAN was once again the wrecker in chief by taking 3 wickets and breaking the back of the Zimbabwe innings.
Tourists started on a solid note with both openers adding 72 runs for the first wicket in 17.6 over. MOHAMMAD SHAHZAD scored 80 runs off 81 balls and ensured the victory for Afghanistan in the thrilling encounter. CHISORO removed both the openers and SC Williams took 2 important wickets to upset the applecart of the tourists however valuable knock from Captain STANIKZAI and late strike by Rashid khan saw Afghanistan walk past the finish line in 47th over with 3 wickets in hand. Although it was a low scoring match, both teams lost wickets at crucial intervals to keep the spectators interested. MOHAMMAD SHAHZAD was adjudged the man of the match for his brilliant knock of 80 runs.
