Shafiqullah Shafiq was born on the 7th day of August in 1989 and hails from Nangrahar, Afghanistan. Shafiq is primarily a wicketkeeper and a right hand batsman. Shafiq represents the national cricket team of Afghanistan. Shafiq entered international cricket on behalf of Afghanistan in a List A match. At Vanderbijlpark, Shafiq played his first match against Denmark on the 1st of April 2009. This was in the ICC World Cup Qualifier of 2009 for One Day International as well as First Class status. Afghanistan won the match by 5 wickets and qualified for One Day International status. In this tournament Shafiqullah played in 5 of the matches.

Shafiq’s One Day International debut followed cue. In Afghanistan’s tour of Netherlands in 2009, he played his first ODI. On 1st September at Amstelveen, Afghanistan won against Netherlands by 6 wickets. Soon Shafiq went on to play against Canada in 2010’s February.

Shafiqullah debuted in T20 International on the 1st of February 2010. He scored 23 runs off 27 balls against Ireland. The match was being played in Colombo. Shafiq represented Afghanistan in November 2009 at the ACC Twenty20 Cup. He played matches against United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait. Singapore, China and Hong Kong in the tournament. Afghanistan won the tournament at the final match win by 8 wickets.

Shafiq played in 2006’s ACC Middle East Club, ACC Trophy Elite in 2008. When Afghanistan won the World Cricket League Division Five, Shafiq was present in the squad. In Afghanistan’s journey from Division four to three to two and then up till ICC World Cup Qualifier in 2009, Shafiq continued his contribution to the rising team.
