Weather Gods Take Lanka to their first series win of the tour - Ireland cricket team a side in the world cricket who is known for their surprise performance lost their first match in a two match ODI series against Sri Lanka. The Irish bowlers surprised the visitors under the conditions favourable for bowling. A splendid performance from the bowlers made the current world T20 champions to score only 219 in their 50 overs thanks to some hard hitting from Kulasekara. The Irish batting failed as the only player who provided some resistance to the bowling was O’Brien and Porterfield. The Irish after losing the match by 79 runs were confident of levelling the series in the second match but the weather gods had something else planned as the rain never allowed the teams to take the field as the last match of the series was washed out without a single ball being played. This washout made the Lankans win their first series in the long tour of England, while the home team was disheartened as lot was expected from them in the series.
