The ICC T20 World cup is around the corner to be played in 2016. The associate nations will be meeting each other in July 2015 to fight for the remaining places in the ICC world T20. The T20 Qualifiers will see associate nations come against each other. There will be 14 teams fighting it put against each other. These 14 teams will be divided into 2 groups that will take each other out. This time around the tournament is hosted by Ireland and Scotland.
The 1st group namely the Group A will consists of teams like the Ireland, Nepal, Hong Kong, Papua New Guinea, Namibia, United States of America and Jersey. These 7 teams will make the Group A and will fight against each other in a round robin format. The 1st match of the group will be played between Ireland and Namibia in Belfast. The teams fighting in the round robin will win points on winning the matches and top 4 team will be qualifying for the next round from Group A.
On the other hand there is a second group in the tournament comprising of 7 teams. This group is named as Group B. The 7 teams that are part of this group are as follows. Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, Scotland, Canada, Kenya and Oman. These 7 teams will be fighting it out against each other in the round robin format in the first stage of the tournament. Each team will be playing 6 matches and earning points for each win. The top 4 teams with the highest points will be moving towards the quarter final stage to fight four teams from Group A. The first match of the tournament will be a Group B match.
The tournament will be starting from 9th of July. In this tournament the top 6 qualifying teams will be meeting the ninth and tenth placed teams in the ICC world T20 rankings that is Bangladesh and Zimbabwe to qualify for the main event to be held in 2016. These 14 teams will be playing 51 matches in so as to qualify for the qualifiers.
The tournament will be aired on the major television channel across the globe for international audience.
