Gulbadin Naib is a professional cricketer of the Afghanistan national side. He is a right-handed batsman and bowls right-arm medium pace. This 23-years old Afghan cricketer was born on March 16, 1991 at the Logar Province, Afghanistan. He is also known as Gulbudeen Naib and Gulbodin Naib. He had to fight resistances from all sides during his early life. His father was jobless and hence his childhood was not a bed of roses.

In 2008, Naib played his debut match as a part of the Afghanistan national side. The match was a part of the World Cricket League Division Five and was against Japan. He played for 5 matches at a stretch. He soon became a part of the documentary film "Out of the Ashes" which traced the preparations and lives of the cricketers during the World Cricket League.  He soon lost his place in the Afghanistan team as he was filming for the documentary. Later in 2010, the Afghan pacer was selected for the national side to play at the Asian Games. His national side bagged the silver medal at the tournament.

In 2011, Naib got the chance to make his List A debut for the national side. He was selected for the Afghan squad which went to Pakistan for playing 3 unofficial ODIs against the home team.  It was for the first time that any team visited Pakistan, post the attack on Sri Lankan team in 2009. Later that year, he made the debut in ODI format of the game against Canada at the Intercontinental Cup One Day. This was followed by Naib’s T20 debut against Trinidad and Tobago at the Cricket Canada Summer Festival. He is one of the future stars of Afghanistan.
