The first ODI match between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan was played at the Queen Sports club Bulawayo on 16th October 2015. Prior to the start of the match Zimbabwe were favorites as they loss the toss to the tourists who elected to bat first. Afghanistan batsmen were bamboozled by the slow left arm orthodox spin of MASAKZA who wiped about half the opposition line up for a paltry 21 runs. The whole team collapsed like a pack of cards and could only muster 122 runs within 34.1 over. Tourists were not a able to handle the spin bowling of the Zimbabwe bowlers and could not survive for the full quota of 50 over. Among the Afghani batsmen, only NAQIBULLAH ZADRAMN could score 25 runs of 31 deliveries offering token resistance however he was devoid of support from the other end.
The home team started the chase on a solid note with opener R MUTUMBAMI scoring a well compiled 30 runs off 35 balls and CJ CHIBHABHA notching half century off 69 balls. They both added 53 runs for the first wicket in 11.5 over when MTUMBAMI was foxed by AFTAB ALAM. Later on CHIBHABHA added 44 run with S ERVINE who also scored 20 runs off 25 balls laying the solid foundation for victory. Owing to small target, the Zimbabwe batsmen had plenty of time to settle down and then capitalized on loose bowling. A clinical finish from the batsmen saw the home side coasting to victory and beating Afghanistan by 8 wickets with more than 26 over to spare
This match was memorable event as TC CHISORO debuted for ZIMBABWE. WP MASAKZADA was awarded the man of the match for his brilliant performance of 4/21 runs. He beat the opposition batsmen in flight and bamboozled them with high quality spin bowling.
