Pollard takes the Mumbai through to the finals of IPL 2015 - Mumbai with all the luck and hard work made it to the top 2 of IPL 2015 to make it to the first Qualifier. The 1st Qualifier was played at the Wankhede in Mumbai the home stadium of Mumbai Indians. It was the best chances for the home team to make it to the final as the winner from this match will be able to make it to the finals directly while the loser will be heading to Ranchi to meet the winner of the eliminator. In this match Mumbai Indians won the toss and decided to bat first.

Batting first the opening pair of Lendl Simmons and Parthiv Patel gave the team a good start. They scored 90 runs in the 1st 10 overs of the game. It was a great start for Mumbai but the Chennai team made a great comeback to the match taking the wicket of Patel first while Simmons second. Simmons scored 65 runs before losing his wicket. The game seemed changing as Mumbai were unable to make most of the start. Rohit Sharma lost his wicket scoring only 19 runs. Later Kieron Pollard scored 41 runs in 17 balls to take his team to a score of 187 runs in 20 overs. It was this innings that changed the innings. It provided the team the advantage when they get on the field to defend the total.

Chennai while chasing the score of 188 lost Dwayne Smith without scoring a single run. Michael Hussey and Faf du Plessis scored 46 runs in 5 overs. Hussey after scoring 16 runs lost his wicket in the 1st ball of the 6th over. Suresh Raina was the hope for team but he too didn’t contribute much as Mumbai bowlers were making merry. Du Plessis scored 45 runs before losing his wicket and he was the top scorer of the team as Chennai failed to chase down the score. Chennai were able to score 162 runs before losing all the wickets.

With this performance Mumbai walked towards the final to be played in Kolkata. Pollard was named as the man of the match and he also won the Yes Bank Maximum sixes award.
