The governing authority of Indian cricket, BCCI has announced their plans for the visit to England in the month of July 2022 to play 3 T20I matches bilateral series against England. The T20I series between England and India will take place at three different venues. The England vs India T20I series 2022 will commence with the first T20 international at Rose Bowl, Southampton on 7 July 2022, then the second match will be conducted at Edgbaston, Birmingham on 9 July 2022, and the team India will visit Manchester for the last T20I on 10 July 2022.
After the conclusion of the T20I Men’s World Cup, Rohit Sharma was announced as the new captain of India in the limited-overs of the game. So, the Indian team will visit England under the leadership of Rohit Sharma with their new coach Rahul Dravid. On the other side, Eoin Morgan will lead England for the T20I series against India in the upcoming month of July 2022.
In terms of ICC ranking, India currently stands at the number 2 position whereas England is at the top position. Both the teams have lots of potentials and are packed with skilled players to defeat each other so it will be unfair to compare them on the basis of their ranking.
India played its first T20I against South Africa at Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg; 1 December 2006. Since 2006, India has taken part in 153 T20 international matches in which they won 95, lost 51, 3 ties and 4 matches ended without any result. On the other hand, England has played 143 T20I out of which they achieved victory in 75 matches, lost 61, ties 2 and 5 matches ended with no outcome.
In terms of head to head, India has faced England in T20I matches on 19 instances where India defeated England 10 times and was beaten by England on 9 occasions. So, this proves that both are almost equal and it is going to be interesting to watch how Indian players will perform under the captaincy of their new captain on the England surfaces.
