South African batting line up collapse levels the series for Lankans - The 2nd match of the ODI series between Sri Lanka and South Africa was played at the beautiful Pallekele International cricket stadium. After winning the toss the home team decided to bat first. The team got off to a good start scoring 63 runs in the first 9 overs. During this process the team also lost 2 wickets which included the all-important wicket of Kumar Sangakkara. Tillakaratne Dilshan was the anchor of the team while he got new partners scoring runs for the team. At first it was Lahiru Thirimanne who scored 36 runs and got out bringing in Mahela Jayawardene. Dilshan lost his wicket in the 31st over of the match scoring 86 runs. Later Jayawardene took over and played some exquisite shots to score 48 runs. Angelo Mathew too played a good role in the middle taking his team to a score of 256 runs. It was then the home side collapsed to some good bowling by Ryan McLaren. From 256/6 the team was all-out at 267 runs. McLaren was the top bowler taking 4 wickets in the innings.

The South Africans chase saw few hiccups in the beginning as 2 quick wickets fell in the first 5 overs. It was the dangerous Lasith Malinga who took these wickets and provided an upper hand in the game. Hashim Amla continued to score runs. He along with AB de Villiers managed to have a 75 run partnership of which most of the scoring was done by Amla. As de Villiers departed the away team crashed. From 101/3 the team came down to 124/6. Amla completed his century in the match and departed. The team was then all-out in just 180 runs and the home team won the match to level the series 1-1. Malinga was the best bowler as he took 4 wickets in the match. Tillakaratne Dilshan won the man of the match award.
