Guptill played a remarkable innings, scoring a fifty in just 17 balls and finishing with an unbeaten 93 runs off 30 balls in that match.

2. Brendon McCullum

Brendon McCullum holds the 2nd position for making the fastest 50 in ODI for New Zealand. He made this remarkable effort in just 18 balls while playing against England in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. In the 9th match, England added only 123 runs on the scoreboard. In reply, New Zealand batters achieved this easy target in 12.2 overs. McCullum who was captain in that match contributed match winning 77 runs in 25 balls only including his fastest 50 for his team.

When Bangladesh visited New Zealand for 3 ODI series, both teams met at Queenstown for the last ODI where Bangladesh was bowled out at 93 runs only. New Zealand achieved that small target 6 overs only without losing any wickets. McCullum made an excellent effort in that match by making the fastest 50 in 19 balls and ultimately added unbeaten 80 runs from 28 balls.

4. Ross Taylor

Ross Taylor is placed at the number 4th position for making the fastest 50 in ODI for New Zealand. New Zealand and Ireland faced each other in the 1 match of the Associates Tri-Series in Scotland on July 01, 2008. New Zealand batted first and added 402 runs on the scoreboard because of their openers who made 274 in pair for the first wicket. After that, Ross Taylor who came out first down scored the 4th fastest 50 for New Zealand in 19 balls and finally made 59 runs in 24 balls only. 

5. Brendon McCullum

Brendon McCullum holds the record for achieving the 5th fastest half-century in an ODI for New Zeal and. He achieved this feat in 19 balls while playing against Sri Lanka in the 1st match of the 7 ODI series in 2015. In that match, Sri Lanka batted first and could add only 218 runs on the scoreboard. In reply, after losing Guptill at 0, McCullum handled the situation nicely by contributing 51 runs in just 22 balls, this inning of McCullum also contained the 5th fastest 50 in ODI for New Zealand. In the end, New Zealand achieved the target in 43 overs.
