In the 2nd match of the 5 ODI bilateral series between Sri Lanka and New Zealand, Sri Lanka batted first but could make only 117 runs. In reply, New Zealand did not face any problems and easily achieved the target in 8.2 overs. Guptill played a remarkable innings, scoring a fifty in just 17 balls and finishing with an unbeaten 93 runs off 30 balls in that match.

Brendon McCullum holds the 2nd position for making the fastest 50 in ODI for New Zealand. He made this remarkable effort in just 18 balls while playing against England in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. In the 9th match, England added only 123 runs on the scoreboard.
