Australia goes closer to the semi final after beating South Africa by 8 wickets
Australia got back to back victories as they beat South Africa by 6 wickets. South Africa was sent in to bat first after Australia won the toss and elected to field first. It was a very poor start as compared to the earlier starts which the Proteas have got in the tournament losing 2 vital wickets within the first 10 runs. Hashim Amla too could not manage to do much and soon South Africa was in a spot of bother losing 3 wickets for just 33 runs. Duminy steadied the ship for a while bit ultimately he too fell prey of some clever bowling from the Aussies. Doherty was the best bowler for the Aussies picking up 3 wickets for just 20 runs and Shane Watson too chipped in with a couple of wickets. South Africa finished off with a few boundaries from Petersen and Behardien.
Australia started their innings slowly scoring around 3 runs per over and soon David Warner was dismissed by Morne Morkel. Shane Watson and Michael Hussey took charge of the match from then onwards hitting sixes and fours in almost every over. Soon the total of 146 seemed to be very little for the Aussies and with the partnership of Watson and Hussey they reached the total without much of an effort. Shane Watson got out after a well made 70 runs and was also named the man of the match.
