Australians Humiliate Scotland to finish the league stage with a win - The 40th match of the World Cup was played between the two teams from Pool A Australia and Scotland. Both the teams were no match to each other and it was a mere formality as the top 4 from the group had already been decided. In this match after winning the toss Australians decided to field first,

The Scottish batting line-up had been struggling in the world cup as they failed to produce some good results. Similarly in this match too Kyle Coetzer the Scottish opener failed to score a single run and lost his wicket in the 3rd over of the game. Calum MacLeod and Matt Machan held their nerves and batted the team to a score of 36 in 7th over when MacLeod lost his wicket after scoring 22 runs. This wicket opened up gates for Australian bowlers as they ran through the middle order comfortably. Machan scored 40 runs while others failed to reach the double figure mark. The team was struggling at 95/8. Josh Davey and Michael Leask controlled the innings as they scored 26 and 23 runs respectively before Scottish team was bowled out at a score of 130 runs only. The Scottish innings lasted only 26 overs as Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins tool 4 and 3 wickets respectively.

Michael Clarke and Aaron Finch opened the innings for Australia and Finch was able to score only 20 runs. Shane Watson too was able to score only 24 runs before losing his wicket. Clarke continued to impress with the bat as he was able to score 47 runs before losing his wicket. Australians lost the 3 wickets in 14th over when the team was at 92. James Faulkner and David Warner then came together and scored 16 and 21 respectively to take their team cross the line in 16th over of the game ensuring an easy win. Mitchell Starc was named as the man of the match.
