Afghans hold their nerves to emerge victorious in a crunch match - The 17h match of the cricket world cup 2015 was again an affair of minnows playing against each other. Scotland and Afghanistan from Pool a came together to prove their supremacy over each other. In this Pool A match Afghanistan won the toss and they decided to test the batting of Scottish side which have produced problems in the previous matches.
Scotland had a poor start to their innings as the top 3 wickets fell pretty quickly for them. Afghanistan was on top roaring like Lions over the batting side of Scotland. Kyle Coetzer was the top scorer for Scotland top order as he scored 25 runs before losing his wicket while Calum MacLeod and Hamish Gardiner scored 0 and 5 runs respectively. The middle order came together and controlled the falling innings. Mat Machan and Preston Mommsen scored 31 and 23 runs respectively to control the middle innings. Once these two left the wicket the team batsmen in the middle order had a start of 20 runs but lost the path in the middle and hence resulted in reaching a score of 210 runs in 50 overs. Shapoor Zadran and Dawalat Zadran took 4 and 3 wickets.
Afghanistan had a comfortable score to chase but they too had a bad start to the match as they lost 2 wickets early. This fall brought in a great chance to the Scottish side as they came in and took some quick wickets leaving the team at 132/8. It was a collapse that put Scotland in a position to win but Samiullah Shenwari had something else in mind he scored 96 ns and took the team to a score of 192 and lost his wicket failing to take them cross the line. But the last wicket partnership was able to take the team cross the line and Afghanistan won a great thriller. Samiullah was named as the man of the match as Afghanistan won the match.
