The University Oval stadium is situated in Logan Park, New Zealand. It was constructed between 1913 & 1920 on the inlet of silted-up of Otago Harbour. It has several sports pitches. It is also a chief venue for football matches, which is famous with the name of Caledonian Ground. It has a beautiful ground with tree-lined having a main pavilion as well as a grandstand. University Oval provides all kinds of sporting facilities. It has a grassy ground that gives it a lush green look. The stadium has a total seating capacity of 6,000 spectators. It has no floodlights. There are two stands named Northern End and Southern End. It had been used for major cricket occasionally since 1978-79. In the year 2007-08, this ground has hosted its first cricket Test and turned 7th test venue of New Zealand. It has several modish facilities like a media complex that have radio and TV commentary rooms, temporary scaffolding for TV cameras, an electronic scorecard, changing rooms, bars and lounges, viewing areas for players, a medical room, umpires’ rooms, shop and a canteen, storage rooms and media rooms. It is one of the most favoured venues for domestic rugby and cricket matches.
