One of the latest stadiums in Pakistan, Multan Cricket stadium encompasses a huge multi-purpose stadium. Located in Multan suburbs, the stadium is the biggest stadium in the country and boasts a capacity of 35,000 spectators. Multan Cricket Stadium was first inaugurated back in 2001. It was constructed as replacement for Ibn-e-QasimBagh Cricket Stadium. Recently floodlights were installed in Multan Stadium to facilitate day & night matches. The stadium is owned by Pakistan Cricket Board and operated by Southern Punjab Cricket Association. The very first day/night match to be played in the stadium was between Pakistan and India.
Multan Cricket Stadium had its first Test match on August 29, 2001 and first ODI on September 9, 2003. It is one of the 4 venues in Pakistan Super League and the home ground of Multan Sultans, a newly added team to PSL. The stadium will begin its innings in Pakistan Super League 2020 with the 8th match.
