Steven Smith came at number 3 position for Australia, and he showed his class to the world of cricket. He showed why he is on the list of one of the best batsmen in the world. He made a partnership of 108 runs with Aaron Finch for the 2nd wicket. Captain Finch played a brilliant inning and made 114 runs with a strike rate of 91.9. Marcus Stoinis failed to perform and got a golden duck on the very first ball of Yuzi Chahal he faced. Glenn Maxwell and Steven Smith provided pace to the Australian inning. Glenn Maxwell made 45 runs in just 19 balls. He smashed 3 huge sixes in his inning. After the failure in IPL, it was a perfect reply by Maxwell. Steven Smith played till the last over of the inning and made 105 runs in just 66 balls. Australia put a huge target of 375 runs for India to win the match. It was the highest total in ODI by Australia to India. Mohammed Shami took most 3 wickets for India.
Shikhar Dhawan and Mayank Agarwal opened the Indian inning. They gave a quick start to the team, but Agarwal got out on just 22 runs. India was 53/1 after 5.1 overs. Captain Kohli came to bat at number 3 position. He was looking good, but he got out on a short delivery of Hazlewood on 21 runs. Hazlewood gave early wickets to Australia. India lost their 4 wickets on just 101 runs. Shikhar Dhawan and Hardik Pandya made a brilliant partnership of 128 runs for the 5th wicket. This was the only positive in the match for India. Shikhar Dhawan made 74 runs, and once again, Hardik Pandya impressed everyone with his free flowing game. Pandya scored most 90 runs for India in just 76 balls. India made 308 runs in their 50 overs, and Australia comfortably won the match by 66 runs. Steve Smith was selected as player of the match for his brilliant century.
