The decider or the final match of 3 one day international match series between India and Australia was held on January 19, Sunday at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Both the teams had won 1 match each, and the series was leveled. Therefore, the third match was a decider match of series. The third and last time in series, Australian captain Finch won the toss but elected to bat first instead of bowling like in the previous two matches. Australian team got one change the seam bowler Richardson was replaced by another fast bowler Hazlewood. While the Indian side was unchanged and was looking forward and positive even after losing the toss.
Indian new ball bowler Mohammed Shami dismissed Australian opener, David Warner, early of the innings. The Indian bowlers were performing well and dominating over Aussies in early innings. Australian batsman Steven Smith scored a much-needed hundred for his team and scored the most 131 runs while the youngster Labuschagne scored a fifty. Indian bowlers restricted Australian batsmen in a total of 286 in their 50 over. Mohammed Shami took the most four wickets for India.
The second innings and chase began with Rohit Sharma's outstanding batting performance. KL Rahul started the innings with Rohit Sharma as opener Dhawan was injured during the field. Rohit Sharma gave pace to the innings and scored a century in decider match while the captain Kohli short 11 runs to a hundred and scored 89 runs. With this quality batting performances, India won the decider match easily only in 47 over and won the series by 2-1.
