Delhi breaks the losing Jinx to register their 1st win in the IPL - The 10th match of the Indian Premier League 2015 was played in the city of Pune in the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. It was a home match for the Kings XI Punjab team who were hosting the Delhi Daredevils. In this match Daredevils were coming after facing an 11 straight loss and they were in urgent need of a bounce back. In this match after winning the toss Punjab decided to bat first.
Punjab openers Murali Vijay and Virender Sehwag failed to give a good start as Vijay after scoring 19 runs lost his wicket leaving his team at a score of 33 runs in 5 overs. Wriddhiman Saha came in to bat 1st down when he along with Sehwag helped the team in scoring some runs. He was one of the biggest factors in the match for Punjab as he helped to up the run-rate in the match. He scored 39 runs off 28 balls to take his team to a total of 104 runs in 14th over. It was in this over when he lost his wicket looking to hit the ball out of the boundary. Sehwag too played a good role scoring 47 runs in 41 balls as Punjab posted a total of 165. It was a full credit to the Delhi leg spinners as they were successful in stopping the increasing run-rate.
Delhi looking to win the match needed a good start but the Punjab bowlers made merry as they took 2early wickets of Jean Paul Duminy and Shreyas Iyer. Duminy scored only 21 runs while Iyer scored 6 runs. Mayank Agarwal and Yuvraj Singh together stitched an epic partnership to take the team near the required total. They enjoyed a 100 run partnership as Yuvraj scored 55 runs while Agrawal scored 68 runs before losing his wicket. Delhi after 11 consecutive losses was able to chase down the total to register their 1st win in the tournament.
Yuvraj Singh won the Yes Bank maximum sixes award. Mayank Agrawal was named as the Man of the match while Akshar Patel won the HotStar award for his run out of Jean Paul Duminy.
