Suresh Raina leads Chennai Super Kings to Victory - The Oppo Champions league for the year 2014 had seen it all from hard hitting and some dramatic bowling. After crossing different stages of the tournament it was Kolkata Knight Riders and the Chennai Super Kings who made it to the final of the tournament to fight it out for the ultimate glory. Knight riders have been the team to beat in the tournament while Super Kings has been in the final once and they knew how to do it well. The Match was played at Bengaluru and dew was huge factor so after winning the toss Super Kings decided to field first.

Batting first the Knights got off to a good start. The opening pair of Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir scored 91 runs in 11 overs. This partnership gave them the start they wanted but Pawan Negi was able to break this partnership by taking Uthappa when he was batting at 39. Jacques Kallis was unable to contribute much as he too fell after scoring only 1 run. It was Gambhir who was leading from the front and scored 80 runs from 52 balls. Gambhir fell in the 17th over when the team had reached a score of 136. The platform was set for the rest of the batsmen to fire. Manish Pandey scored 32 of 19 runs and Yusuf Pathan scored 20 runs of 9 balls. These were the only two players who were able to score some quick runs as the rest of the team fell without contributing much. Negi was the star bowler as he played his part in restricting the Knights to a score of 180 by taking 5 wickets.

Dwayne Smith once again failed to impress as he lost his wicket in the 1st over of the innings. He was bowled by Patt Cummins. Brendon McCullum partnered Suresh Raina well as Raina stole the show with some vibrant batting display. He was hitting boundaries with ease and these two batsmen took the team to a score of 127 in just 13 overs. The 1st ball of the 14th over saw the fall of McCullum at a score of 39. Mahendra Singh Dhoni walked out to bat along with Raina and these two pair took their time to settle down. Raina rained boundaries with his bat as he scored 109 runs in the match. He alone took his team to winning the title thus beating the Kolkata Knight Riders with 9 balls remaining.

With this win the Chennai Super Kings were crowned champions of the tournament twice. Suresh Raina won the Suzuki Gixxer Power Player award for hitting most sixes while Pawan Negi won the Oppo Man of the Match award for his awesome bowling performance.
