Just after Big Bash League conducted its first-ever international auction, the following season is anticipated to be a great one. The 12 edition of the BBL which will run from Dec 2022 to Feb 2023 will commence with the first match between Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Stars on 13th December 2022 at Manuka Oval. In the 2022-23 season of the Big Bash League, all the teams will face each other in 56 league matches and after that, there will be 5 knockout games at the different locations in Australia. 27th Jan is the fixed date of Eliminator, 28 and 29 Jan is decided for the Qualifier and Knockout round, afterward, Feb 4 is scheduled for the BBL Final 2022.
In the last two seasons of BBL, the Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers both made it to the finals. The Sixers won the title in the ninth iteration by defeating the Scorchers. Ironically, the reverse happened the year before when Perth defeated the Sixers to win the cup.

Venues
All the T20 clashes of the BBL 2022 will be conducted in 17 locations including three new stadiums i.e, Lavington Sports Ground in Albury, Cazalys Stadium in Cairns, and North Sydney Oval. All the 8 participating squads of the BBL will fight 7 home and 7 away matches throughout the entire season. Over the course of the whole season, all eight BBL competing teams will play seven home games and seven away games.
BBL Teams and Winners
Adelaide Striker
Adelaide Striker is one of the 8 squads that participate in BBL captained by Peter Siddle and coached by Jason Gillespie. In 2017-18 Adelaide Striker won the title for the first time after defeating Hobart Hurricanes by 25 runs. Jason Gillespie, a former Australian pace bowler, is the Strikers' head coach, and Head serves as the captain of the Strikers. Jake Weatherald is the highest run scorer whereas Rashid Khan took the most wickets for the Strikers. The pair of Alex Carey & Jake Weatherald holds the record of making the highest partnership for Adelaide Strikers. Jake Weatherald holds the record of making the highest run (115) for the Strikers. 208 for 7 is the highest inning total of the Strikers as of July 2022.
Brisbane Heat
Brisbane Heat is another participant of the Big Bash League and their home ground is The Gabba which is also known as Brisbane Cricket Ground in Brisbane. The team has Jimmy Peirson as a captain under the guidance of Wade Seccombe as a head coach. By beating the Perth Scorchers, Brisbane won the BBL title for the first time in 2012–13.
Hobart Hurricanes
Based in Tasmania, Australia, Hobart Hurricanes is a T20 franchise that has been competing in the BBL since its inception but has never been able to lift the BBL title. The Bellerive Oval University of Tasmania Stadium with a capacity of 19,000 people to take in is the stadium where the Hurricanes contest their home T20 matches in BBL. They have made it to the final two times but could not succeed to achieve the title. Matthew Wade has the responsibility of captain whereas Adam Griffith plays the role of head coach for Hobart Hurricanes, both are former Australian cricketers. Xavier Doherty, George Bailey, Tim Paine, Charlie Wakim, Matthew Wade, and Peter Handscomb are the names of the players who have served the Hurricanes as a captain. Apart from all these, Hobart Hurricanes is known for four of the highest run chases in Big Bash history.
Melbourne Renegades
Melbourne Renegades is another participant of the BBL which represents Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and they play their home games at Docklands Stadium, Melbourne. Under the captaincy of Nic Maddinson along with David Saker as a head coach and Michael Lewis as a bowling coach, the Renegades are all set to take part in the BBL 2022-23. Unmukt Chand, Zahir Khan, Mohammad Nabi, and Reece Topley come under the overseas player category. Currently, Nike is sponsoring the Kit of the Renegades. In 2018-19, Melbourne Renegades lifted the BBL trophy for the first time under the leadership of Aaron Finch.
Melbourne Stars
Melbourne Stars are the T20 cricket franchise that plays for Melbourne, Victoria, and their home venue is Melbourne Cricket Ground which can take more than 1 lakh people in. Glenn Maxwell is the captain of the Stars who also holds the record of making the highest individual score of unbeaten 154 runs at MCG against the Hurricanes. David Hussey, a former Australian cricketer got the responsibility of head coach for the Stars. The color of the Melbourne Stars outfit is green and black. Metricon Stadium, Gold Coast, Ted Summerton Reserve, Moe, and CitiPower Center, Melbourne are their secondary stadiums with a capacity of 25,000, 7,500, and 7,000. Melbourne Stars has never been capable of winning the title of BBL but he became runners-up on 3 occasions and they finished at 1st position in 2013-14 and 2019-20.
Perth Scorchers
Perth Scorchers is a domestic T20 cricket franchise that was founded at the beginning of the BBL and their outfit color is orange. Perth Scorchers has lifted the BBL title on 4 instances i.e, 2013-14, 2014-15, 2016-17, 2021–22. Perth Scorchers will enter the tournament under the captaincy of Ashton Turner along with Adam Voges as a head coach. WACA Ground (2011–2018) and Perth Stadium (2018-) are the grounds where the Scorchers fight their home matches.
Sydney Sixers
Sydney Sixers is an elite T20 cricket franchise that takes part in BBL every year, its captain is Moises Henriques whereas its head coach is Greg Shipperd. The Sydney Cricket Ground is the home ground assigned to the Sixers in order to play their home games, the ground is big enough to take the 48,601 people in. Sydney Sixers who wear magenta outfits won the inaugural season of the BBL. Since then, they have become BBL champions 3 times. Moises Henriques with 1986 runs is the leading scorer and Sean Abbott with 114 wickets is the highest wicket-taker of the Sixers.
Sydney Thunders
Sydney Thunders is another participant of the BBL who won the title in 2015–16 for the first time by beating the Melbourne Stars in the final. Chris Green is picked up as a captain of the Thunders while Jason Sangha plays the role of acting captain along with Trevor Bayliss as a head coach. The Thunders fight their home matches at Sydney Showground Stadium which has a capacity of 21,500.
Watch Big Bash League 2022-23 in India
From the 2023–2024 season, the Big Bash League will be televised on the Disney Star network in India as the Disney Star network made a broadcast agreement for a seven-year term. In contrast to Hotstar's online viewing of all the matches, the BBL games will be broadcast on various Star Sports networks.
