Mumbai Indians keeps their hope alive by defeating Delhi Daredevils by 15 runs at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Mumbai managed to put up a score of 173 runs by losing all the wickets in 19.3 overs. Once again Lendl Simmons and Michael Hussey started the innings decently for Mumbai as they both scored 35 runs of 25 runs and 56 runs of 33 balls respectively. Anyway, no one after that except Rohit Sharma (30 runs of 21 balls) (C) scored over 20 runs, but still they got a formidable score on their board because of the opening partnership.
Daredevil’s bowlers bowled well in the second half as they managed to take all the wickets of MI. Jaydev Unadkat claimed 2 wickets by just bowling 2 overs in the match. Imran Tahir bowled an exceptional spell for Delhi as he took 3 wickets by considering 37 runs in his allotted 4 overs. Shahbaz Nadeem and Wayne Parnell shared 2 wickets equally.
Delhi yet again gave a poor batting performance as they failed to make any opening partnership in the match. Murali Vijay and Dinesh Karthik (W) went very early when DD needed them the most. However, Kevin Pietersen (C) played an decent innings of 44 runs in 31 balls, but the dreadful thing for delhi is that, they always lost wicket when the partnership was just building, no wonder that they are in the last position in the points table. Manoj Tiwary also tried to build up some runs and bring the victory for his side after a long series of defeat, but his effort wasn’t enough. Tiwary scored 41 runs in 31 balls. Everyone is wondering why Delhi team management is not letting JP Duminy bat in the top order when he is in magnificent form. When JP Duminy came to the ground, it was an impossible job to do. However he scored 45 runs in just 29 balls and clinched another not out. Delhi only managed to score 158 runs in their 20 overs.
Marchant de Lange claimed two important wickets of Delhi by just giving 32 runs. Shreyas Gopal and Harbhajan Singh shared other two wickets equally. Michael Hussey once again got the Man of the Match award for his magnificent batting display.
