In a high scoring match at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, the home team, Mumbai Indians beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 19 runs. Wankhede stadium has always been a lucky charm for MI boys as they got their 2nd much needed win in IPL 7 at their home ground. However, the toss was won by RCB skipper, Virat Kohli and he elected to field first. The Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma got back some sort of his form and played a captain’s knock as he scored 59 valuable runs in just 35 balls. Well, MI started their innings badly, they lost early wickets of Ben dunk (15 of 14 balls), Ambati Rayudu (9 of 9 balls) and Corey Anderson (6 of 4 balls). Well, after that Kieron Pollard yet again smashed all over the ground to support the unbeaten innings of MI skipper as he scored 43 runs of 31 balls. In the beginning Chidhambaram Gautam also played a steady innings of 30 runs in 28 balls as Mumbai got 187 runs on their board by just losing 5 wickets to put RCB in trouble. Ashok Dinda, Harshal Patel, Varun Aaron and Yuzvendra Chahal claimed one wicket each among the bowlers of RCB.
For some time it seemed like RCB would chase the 188 runs easily as Chris Gayle and Parthiv Patel (W) opened the innings for RCB smashingly. But Patel gone early after producing some quick fire, he scored 26 runs of 19 balls. Audience of Wankhede experienced a little bit of Gayle storm in the match as he scored 38 runs of 24 balls, till this stage everything was happening right for RCB as Virat Kohli (35 of 28 balls) also produced some valuable runs while chasing, but that was not enough for chasing a big total of 188 runs as Yuvraj Singh (6 off 10 balls) and AB de Villiers (9 of 7 balls) gone early when RCB needed them much. Jasprit Bumrah, Harbhajan Singh and Lasith Malinga all three bowlers bowled a brilliant spell as they shared 6 wickets equally in their home match. Pawan Suyal the young bowler of MI also claimed the important wicket of danger man Virat Kohli to turn the match in favor of Mumbai as they won the match comfortably.
