Australia visited New Zealand for 5 T20I matches series from Feb 22 - Mar 07, 2021. The New Zealand cricket board confirmed the series against Australia for 3 T20I matches on 29 September 2020 but later it had increased to 5 T20I series. The first T20 international match was played at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, and NZ won that match by 53 runs. Devon Conway was the man of the match for his unbeaten and match-winning innings of 99 runs in the 1st T20I match of NZ vs Aus series 2021.
The second one was played at University Oval, Dunedin on 25 Feb 2021 and NZ continued its victory in the second T20I match of the series by 4 runs and led the series by 2-0. Martin Guptill who was included in the series in spite of his injury was the Man of the Match in the 2nd T20I match of the series. Australia needed to stand back in the series and performed very well in the next 2 T20 matches. The 3rd match was shifted from Eden Park in Auckland to Wellington Regional Stadium because the city had locked down because of the pandemic. The last three T20 matches were played at the same Wellington Regional stadium. The audiences were not allowed to attend the 3rd and 4th T20I matches. Australian team made a nice comeback and won 3rd and 4th T20I matches and labeled the series by 2-2. Australia won the 3rd T20 by 64 runs and the 4th T20 by 50 runs. Those were the two big wins for the Australian players who were running behind at the beginning of the series. Ashton Agar was named Man of the match for his awesome performance with the ball for 6 wickets in 3rd T20I. In the 4th T20, Aaron Finch was the player of the match for his unbeaten 79 runs.
The final decider of the NZ vs Aus series 2021 was going to be played at Westpac Stadium, Wellington on 7 March 2021. New Zealand won the final or 5th T20 international match of the series by 7 wickets and again Martin Guptill was named for the Man of the Match for his match-winning inning of 71 runs. Ish Sodhi performed well and took 13 wickets for his team in the series and was the Man of the NZ vs Aus 2021 series. Martin Guptill was the top scorer in that series with 218 runs at the strike rate of 159.12 and struck 2 fifties in the series.
