Dasun Shanaka, Sri Lanka skipper holds the record of making the fastest fifty in the T20 international for Sri Lanka. He added this wonderful effort in just 20 balls while performing against India in Pune in 2023. India welcomed Sri Lanka in January 2023 for a T20 series where both teams met for the 2nd T20 in Pune. Sri Lanka batted first and added a huge total of 206 runs where its captain Dasun played superbly by scoring an unbeaten 56 runs that helped them to cross the 200 milestone.
2. Mahela Jayawardene
Mahela Jayawardene, the former Sri Lanka skipper is standing at the number 2 place for making the fastest 50 in T20I England. He did this feat in 21 balls while facing Kenya bowlers in Johannesburg in 2007. In the ICC T20 World Cup 2007, Sri Lanka and Kenya faced each other in the 8th match where Sri Lanka added 260 runs in the first innings. Mahela Jayawardene played a crucial part in building that total by contributing 65 runs in just 27 balls.
3. Kumar Sangakkara
Kumar Sangakkara is sitting in the 3rd position for making the fastest 50 in T20I for Sri Lanka. He achieved this accomplishment in just 21 balls while playing against India in Nagpur in 2009. Sri Lanka came to India to play a T20 series where both nations met for the 1st T20I in Nagpur. Sri Lanka batted first and its captain Sangakkara played a captaincy innings of 78 balls in just 37 balls which helped them to achieve a winning total of 215 runs.
4. Kusal Perera
Kusal Perera is in the number 4th position for achieving the quickest fifty runs in T20I for Sri Lanka. He added this record in 22 balls while playing against India in Colombo in 2018. During the Nidahas Twenty20 Tri-Series in 2018, Sri Lanka and India met for the opening match of the series where Sri Lanka got a target of 175 runs. In reply, Sri Lankan batters replied well, especially Perera who made 66 runs in 37 balls only which helped them to achieve the target.
5. Sanath Jayasuriya
The former legendary all-rounder of Sri Lanka, Sanath Jayasuriya comes in 5th place for achieving the fastest 50 in T20I for Sri Lanka. He contributed this effort in 23 balls while facing New Zealand bowlers in Wellington in 2006. Sri Lanka visited New Zealand for a T20 series in December 2022 where both squads met in the 1st T20I. Sri Lanka batter Jayasuriya came out to the middle and added an unbeaten 51 runs in just 23 balls that helped them to win the match.
