Jamaica had won both the semi-final matches to reach the final of the championship. The final was between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Jamaica Tallawahs. Jamaica had won the final match by 9 wickets and also won their second CPL title. Chris Gayle scored most runs for Jamaica Tallawahs while Andre Russell was selected as the player of the tournament for his brilliant all-round performance.
Jamaica Tallawahs had started the CPL 2017 season as a defending champion and played very good cricket throughout the tournament. It had finished the group stage at 3rd position. Jamaica Tallawahs had won 6 games out of 10 league games. Guyana Amazon Warriors defeated Jamaica in eliminator match, and thus the defending champions had finished the season at 4th place in CPL 2017. Jamaica Tallawahs had won only 2 games out of 10 games and had disappointed everyone by their performance. Glenn Phillips had scored 374 runs in 10 matches as the top run-scorer for Jamaica. The team could not start the tournament as per the way they wanted and had to finish the season at the bottom position.
