Sri Lanka survive the tricky Bangladesh challenge - The 18th match of the World Cup 2015 saw two Asian teams from Pool A fight it out against each other. These two teams are fighting for the 4th spot in the table as this year the minnows are making it tough for the test playing nations. In the match after winning the toss Sri Lanka chose to bat. It was a test for the batsmen as they have failed to impress in this world cup.
Batting first the opening pair of Lahiru Thirimanne and Tillakaratne Dilshan together scored 122 runs. It was a patient partnership that these two batsmen had and Thirimanne after scoring 52 runs lost his wicket in the 25th over of the match. Dilshan continued his run scoring abilities with his new partner Kumar Sangakkara. The later looked comfortable and it was elegance that defined his innings. In his innings of 105 runs he played all his shots with pure delicacy and was fun to watch on the other hand Dilshan looked a bit rusty and it was an innings of more power than style. Dilshan score 161 runs as the pair took Sri Lanka to a score of 332 runs in 50 overs. Taskin Ahmed was the lone bowler who was able to take a wicket for Bangladesh side.
Bangladesh on the other hand had a bad start to the innings. Tamim Iqbal got out at a score of 0 runs Lasith Malinga took the 1st wicket for Sri Lanka. Anamul Haque and Soumya Sarkar together scored 40 runs for the team as Sarkar after scoring 25 runs and Haque after scoring 29 runs lost their wicket. The team was restricted to 100/5. It was Shakib Al Hassan and Sabbir Rahman who brought in some hope as they both scored 46 and 53 runs respectively. As these two batsmen lost their wicket the game ended and Bangladesh were able to score only 240 runs as they lost the match by 92 runs. Dilshan was named as the man of the match.
