New Zealand dominates England in their 2nd World Cup game - The 9th match of the World Cup was played between New Zealand and England. The host nation was coming from a win in the previous match and on the other hand England was defeated in the previous match. Both the teams had the tendency to fight it out against each other. England won the toss this time and elected to bat first.
Batting first a good start was hoped by all but unfortunately that did not happen as Tim Southee the never allowed batsmen to settle down. He used the conditions well and restricted England to 57/3 in 14th over of the game. Eoin Morgan and Joe Root had a small partnership going as they took their team to a score of 104 before losing the 4th wicket. Morgan after scoring 17 runs lost his wicket and this provided New Zealand the breakthrough that they were looking for. The English side then tumbled hard as they lost wickets continuously and were bowled out for only 123 runs. Southee was the star for the day as he took 7 wickets in the game and was the main reason for the decline of English batsmen. Joe Root was the top scorer for England as he scored 46 runs in this innings.
The score of 124 was an easy one for any team especially when the batsmen are in form. New Zealand found it even easier as Brendon McCullum came out firing all cylinders. He scored 77 runs in 25 balls and took New Zealand towards victory. He lost his wicket in the 8th over when his team was at 105. Martin Guptill after scoring 22 runs lost his wicket but New Zealand was home comfortably in just 12.2 overs. Tim Southee was named as the man of the match as New Zealand won their second consecutive match.
