Besides the Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Stars pitched against each other on the 11 of January there are another two teams all set to test their might against each other but at a different time on a different ground. These two teams are the Hobart Hurricanes and the Sydney Thunders. They will face each other in the Blundstone Arena at 1:45 PM local time. The venue is located on the Derwent River's eastern shores. It is one of the best cricket grounds to play in the world. A lot of domestic and international matches have been hosted by this ground. In 2009 light towers were installed in this ground. It can conveniently seat a crowd of 15,500 spectators. Despite this the ground saw a crowd of 16,719 spectators in the first game after the ground was newly renovated in the year 2003.

Luke Feldman has joined Sydney Thunders. He was Sixers Player of the Tournament in the last season of BBL. His economy rate was 6.53 which is commendable in the batsman friendly T20 matches.
