The Bourda Oval is located in Georgetown, Guyana. It is also known as the Georgetown Cricket Club. It is one of the oldest grounds on Caribbean land. It is the only venue in the world below sea level. The Bourda was opened in the year 1884 and hosted its first test match in 1930. It has a fabulous wooden pavilion at the position of fine leg. This is very imposing structure of the whole stadium. Its Ladies stand is as charming but the more modish and named after famous cricketer Rohan Kanhai. The liveliest portion of this stadium with the ubiquitous DJs and music is at ‘The Mound’. It has no facility of floodlights. The two main stands off the ground are North Road End and Regent Street End. The Bourda is known for its lush greenery. It is one of the largest stadiums in this region having a total capacity of approximately 22,000. This is really a very special place for cricket lovers watch the match. During the award ceremony of 2007 World Cup, the Caribbean signaled that it will not host international cricket any more. The Authorities of Guyana, though, insisted that ‘The Bourda’ would still be hosting first-class cricket.
