IPL T20 2008 was contested in between Kolkata Knight Riders and Deccan Chargers.The match was played on 20th April 2008 at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. The toss was won by the Deccan Chargers and they had chosen to Bat in the first innings. The DC team opened with captain Adam Gilchrist and Venugopal Rao. Even though they were a strong opening pair, they and the rest batting line up of DC did not stand strong against KKR's bowlers. Quick and successive fall of wickets let to an all down of Deccan Chargers in 18.4 overs with a very low score of 110 runs. Andrew Simonds was the only player in the Deccan Chargers team who contributed 32 runs to the total score of DC.
Murali Kartik of KKR took 3 wickets and had given a very low economy of 4.63. Ajit Agarkar had taken 2 wickets.
The Kolkata Knight Riders had to chase a total of 111 runs to victory in this game. Wriddhiman Saha and Brendon McCullum opened the KKR batting line only to be sent back to the pavilion in the next few overs. David Hussey made the highest score of 38 runs in 43 balls and remained not out till the end. The bowlers of Deccan Chargers were also very lenient to give away 28 extra runs mostly being wide balls.
The Kolkata Knight Riders won the match in 19 overs with 5 wickets still in hand. It was a slow match and did not really give the thrashing feel of a Twenty20 series.
David Hussey had bagged the Man of the Match award while the KKR team got another 2 points from this victory.
