The third match of 3-ODI series between Pakistan and Zimbabwe was played on November 3 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi. The captain of Pakistan was Babar Azam while Chamu Chibhabha captained Zimbabwe. The match was started at 12:00 PM local time. Although from 3 matches Pakistan had won first two matches and series it was a chance for the team to whitewash the guest team while for Zimbabwe it was a match to save its reputation.
In this match also Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bat first. Chari and Chibhabha started the inning but in the 2nd over only Chibhabha got out and hence the first wicket of the team was lost. Craig Ervine joined Chari but soon in the 4th over he also returned to the pavilion. In the 8th over Chari also got out at an individual score of 9 runs. Brendan Taylor and Sean Williams played well and made a partnership of 84 runs. In the 26th over, Taylor got out at an individual score of 56 runs. Williams was joined by Madhevere who got out in 38th over after making 33 runs. Raza also made 45 runs. Williams made not out 112 runs which helped the team to reach the score of 278 at the end of 50 overs at a loss of 6 wickets. From Pakistan, Mohammad Hasnain was the most successful bowler who got 5 wickets.
To chase the score opening pair of Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman initiated the inning but it was not that good start as in the first over Imam and in the 2nd over Zaman got out. However, Babar Azam played a good inning which led Pakistan to be in a better position. Khushdil Shah and Wahab Riaz also made 33 and 52 runs respectively. Team Pakistan could make 278 runs at the end of 50 overs at a loss of 9 wickets, and hence there was a tie. To decide the result of the match, there was a super over played where Pakistan could make 2 runs in 4 balls with 1 wicket while Zimbabwe made 5 runs in 3 balls without losing any wicket. Hence Zimbabwe won the match. Blessing Muzarabani was declared as the player of the match for his bowling performance of 5 wickets. Babar Azam was declared as the player of the series for his consistent performance.
