The 18th match of the CPL 2020 was played between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Jamaica Tallawahs on August 29, Saturday at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad in evening. Jamaica Tallawahs captain Rovman Powell won the toss and elected to bat first.
The Tallawahs opening batsman Glenn Phillips played a beautiful inning of not out 79 runs in 61 balls. He played till end and finished inning with not out label. J Blackwood also scored 27 runs. Captain Powell got out very early on 1 to opposition captain Rayad Emrit. Carlos Brathwaite got out on duck to Emrit. C Walton also got out on 1 to Sheldon Cottrell. With the help of 79 runs from Glenn Phillips, Jamaica put a total of 147 runs in front of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Captain Emrit took most 3 wickets for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Imran Tahir also bowled brilliantly. He took 1 wicket by giving just 7 runs in his 4 over.
It was a target of 148 runs for St Kitts to win the match. Chris Lynn again failed to give a good start to St Kitts and got out on 8 runs. K Powell made 21 runs. Wicket-keeper batsman Denesh Ramdin got out on 13. It was the horrible performance by the batsmen of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Ben Dunk also got out on just 2 runs to Carlos Brathwaite. Evin Lewis made 21 runs but St Kitts and Nevis Patriots got all out on 110 runs in 19.4 over. One more defeat for St Kitts in CPL 2020.
Carlos Brathwaite took most 3 wickets by giving just 11 runs in his 3.4 over spell. F Edwards, V Permaul and Sandeep Lamichhane each took 2 wickets. Glenn Phillips was selected as player of the match for his brilliant batting performance.
