The 10th match of IPL 2020 was played between RCB and MI at Sheikh Zayed Stadium Dubai on 28th September. Rohit Sharma, the captain of MI, had won the toss and chose to field first.
From Royal Challengers Bangalore, Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch had opened the inning. They offered a great start to the team as both of them had made a partnership of 81 runs. In the 9th over Trent Boult got a chance to out Aaron Finch and hence the score of RCB was 81/1. However, Finch had played a superb inning where he had made 52 runs in 35 balls only. Padikkal also made a half-century in 40 balls. Virat Kohli had again disappointed fans by his batting performance as he had got out at the score of 3 runs only. However, after him, AB de Villiers and Shivam Dube handled the inning well where AB had made 55 runs in 24 balls, and Dube had made 27 runs in 10 balls. RCB had made a score of 201 at the end of 20 overs. From MI Trent Boult was the most successful bowler with 2 wickets in his spell of 4 overs.
In the second inning, Mumbai Indians opened with the opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock, but they could not make a good start. In the second over only Rohit Sharma got out at an individual score of 8 runs. Later Quinton de Kock also got out at an individual score of 14 runs. MI had to face another blow when Suryakumar got out at 0. Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya tried to move the scoreboard with some big shots, but again Pandya had failed at a score of 15 runs he also got out. Kishan was joined by Kieron Pollard, and both of them played shots all over the ground. The match was changed in 17 over when Kishan and Pollar hit some big shots. It was a match full of excitement when in the last ball MI needed to have 5 runs to win, and with a four they had equalled the score of RCB.
The match was tied and went to the Super Over. It was the 2nd Super Over in the Indian Premier League 2020 season.
In the Super Over, Mumbai Indians batsman Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya came onto the ground to bat. Royal Challengers Bangalore captain, Virat Kohli, gave the ball to Navdeep Saini. Navdeep Saini did an excellent job and gave only 2 runs from his first 3 deliveries. He gave a single on the first ball, then a single on 2nd ball, and then no run on 3rd ball. But on the fourth ball, there was a missed fielding and Mumbai Indians got a boundary. But Navdeep Saini took the wicket on his fifth ball and gave only a single run on the 6th ball. In this way, Navdeep Saini bowled really well and gave only 7 runs in his over. Now, Royal Challengers Bangalore needed only 8 runs from 6 balls to win the match.
Now Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers came onto the ground to bat for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma gave the ball to Jasprit Bumrah. The first three deliveries of Jasprit Bumrah were excellent and gave only 2 runs. Royal Challengers Bangalore now needed 6 runs from 4 balls. But on the fourth ball, AB de Villiers played a beautiful shot and got a boundary. Now, the score of RCB reached 6 runs off 4 balls and needed 2 runs from 2 balls. On the 5th ball, AB de Villiers played for a single and now needed 1 run from 1 ball. Now, Virat Kohli was on the strike and he made the winning run from the last ball. In this way, Royal Challengers Bangalore won the match in the nail-biting super over. AB de Villiers was given the Man of the Match title for his superb 55 runs off just 24 balls in the first innings.
