The 39th match of IPL 2020 was played between KKR and RCB on 21st October at Sheikh Zayed Stadium. It was an important match for Kolkata Knight Riders as well as Royal Challengers Bangalore as the winning team could easily enter the playoff round. Kolkata was led by Eoin Morgan, while Bangalore was captained by Virat Kohli. KKR won the toss and elected to bat first. 

To begin the inning for Kolkata Knight Riders, Rahul Tripathi and Shubman Gill came to the crease. It was expected to be a big game, but all the expectations shattered soon as, in the first over only, the situation of KKR got severe. In the second over, Tripathi got out at an individual score of 1 run only. Nitish Rana came ot pitch, and in the very first ball, he was out. He had to return without scoring a single run. The score of KKR was 3/2 in the second over. In the 3rd over, Gill also got out an individual score of 1 run. It was the 3rd over, and the score of KKR was 3/3. Tom Baton and Dinesh Karthik tried to play well and move the scoreboard, but the accurate bowling attack from RCB made them go back to the pavilion. Baton scored 10 runs while Karthik returned at an individual score of 4 runs only. Captain Eoin Morgan played some good shots, but the regular fall of wickets made the situation for Kolkata Knight Riders worst. At the end of 20 overs, KKR could reach up to 84 runs only at a loss of 8 wickets. From RCB, Mohammed Siraj was the most successful bowler who got 3 wickets in his spell of 4 overs. KKR set the target of 85 runs to RCB to win the game, which was not a challenging task for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

From Royal Challengers Bangalore, Aaron Finch and Devdutt Padikkal came in the opening. It was an easy to chase task, and hence they played with a relaxed mind. In the 7th over, Finch got out at an individual score of 16 runs. In the same over, Padikkal also got run out and hence Virat Kohli, and Gurkeerat Singh had to come to the pitch. Gurkeerat Singh made not out 21 runs while Kohli made not out 18 runs. RCB got an easy win by 8 wickets with 39 balls spared. Mohammed Siraj was declared as the player of the match for his impressive bowling of 3 wickets, giving 8 runs in 4 overs.
