The 2nd match of the One Day International series between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe was held on March 3, Tuesday at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, in Bangladesh. Bangladesh was leading the series by 1-0 before this match, so there was a chance for Bangladesh team to seal the series while on the other end, it was a must-win match for Zimbabwe to be in the series. Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first.
Bangladesh opener Litton Das failed to score good runs, but T. Iqbal scored a big century in the match and made 158 runs in just 136 balls. He dominated over the bowling attack of Zimbabwe team. Wicket keeper-batsman M. Rahim also scored a half-century in the match and made 55 runs. He made a partnership of 87 runs with Iqbal for 3rd wicket. Mithun finished the Bangladesh innings in style and made 32 runs in just 18 balls and helped the team to get a total of 322 runs in their 50 over. Mumba and Tiripano took 2 wickets each for Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe needed to chase 323 runs to win the match. Zimbabwe opener Kamunhukamwe played good inning and made 51 runs. Zimbabwe batsmen showed courageous cricket and played well. Experienced Zimbabwe player B. Taylor and captain Williams again failed to score good runs and got out on 11 and 14 runs, respectively. Middle-order batsman W. Madhevere scored half-century 52 runs for Zimbabwe team while all-rounder Sikander Raza scored the most 66 runs for the team. Zimbabwe lower-order batsman Tiripano scored unbelievable not out 55 runs in just 28 balls and tried well to make it possible for Zimbabwe. But it was too late, and Zimbabwe team left 5 runs short from the target. Zimbabwe made 318 runs in their 50 over.
Bangladesh won the match by 4 runs and sealed the series by 2-0. T. Iqbal was selected as player of the match for his brilliant batting performance.
