Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers help them register a win against Kings XI Punjab - The 27th match of the Indian Premiere League saw Kings XI Punjab face the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Mohali. This was a mid-table clash and both the teams were finding it difficult to win in every game. It was a game which both team wanted to win in order to gain the momentum for the upcoming matches. After winning the toss the Kings chose to field first.
Batting first the Hyderabad side lost its opener Shikhar Dhawan early. He scored 1 runs before losing his wicket in the 2nd over. David Warner and Hanuman Vihari batted together, to take their team to a score of 56 in 6 overs. In this partnership Warner was the aggressor while Vihari scored only 9 runs as he lost his wicket in the last ball of 6th over. Warner too lost his wicket in the 10th over after scoring 58 runs in 41 balls. Naman Ojha and Moises Henriques batted well as they scored 28 and 30 runs respectively before losing their wickets. Ashish Reddy he lower order batsmen came into bat and scored 22 runs off 8 ball which helped the team reach a total of 150 runs in 20 overs.
The Hyderabad team gained momentum in the final overs and the momentum helped in 2nd innings as well. Trent Boult made his mark on the match as he took the 1st wicket bowling Manan Vohra out. Later in the next over Bhuvneshwar Kumar came in to take the wicket of Shaun Marsh. From the start the team was on top of the game and later Baiely too lost his wicket after scoring 22 runs. The team was struggling at 45/3. The problems increased for the home team as Murali Vijay too lost his wicket due to a run out. David Miller looked strong but los this wicket in the 13th over leaving his team at a score of 72/5. Wriddhiman Saha and Axar Patel took the charge back to the Hyderabad camp as they took the team to 116 runs in 17 overs. It seemed that the game will be tuning about but soon it proved to be wrong. Patel lost his wicket in the 1st bowl of the 18th over while Saha lost his wicket in the last bowl of the same over. They scored 17 and 42 runs respectively. The Punjab players were able to score only 130 runs as Hyderabad won the match comfortably.
Boult took 3 wickets to be the man of the match while Reddy won the Yes Bank Maximum Sixes award for hitting 2 sixes.
