The cricket governing authority of Zimbabwe is all set to welcome Afghanistan in order to play 3 T20I matches in the month of June 2022. The Zimbabwe vs Afghanistan T20 series 2022 will kick start on 11th June and will conclude on 14th June 2022. All the 3 matches of the Zim vs Afg T20 series 2022 will be held in the same place Harare. The series will commence with the first T20I on 11th June at Harare Sports Club, Harare, then the 2nd and 3rd T20I will be conducted on 12th and 14th June at the same ground.
Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi will take charge of the Afghanistan T20 squad as captain along with Najibullah Zadran as Vice-Captain under the guidance of Lance Klusener as a head coach. On the other hand, Craig Ervine will handle the responsibility of captain for Zimbabwe. The Afghanistan skipper, Mohammad Nabi is an experienced player who made his T20I debut against Ireland in 2010 and has added 1523 runs and taken 73 wickets in 86 T20I. Afghanistan has another skilled and world-class spinner Rashid Khan who has the capability to take the wicket in any condition. Currently, Afghanistan is at the number 10th position whereas Zimbabwe is listed at the 12th position in the ICC T20 team ranking.
In terms of head to head in T20I, Zimbabwe and Afghanistan have fought with each other on the ground in 12 T20I matches where Afghanistan has got the upper hand by winning 11 T20I and losing only one game. The number shows that Afghanistan has been a dominant opponent for Zimbabwe in the T20 international. As of June 2022, Zimbabwe has appeared in 101 T20I matches out of which they achieved the victory in 26 matches and faced defeat in 73 matches with 2 matches tied. On the other hand, Afghanistan has contested 91 T20I matches where they got the victory in 61 matches and lost 29 matches with a single tied. These figures show that the winning percentage of Afghanistan is far better than Zimbabwe and will have a better chance to win the Zimbabwe and Afghanistan T20 series 2022 in the coming time.
