The South Africa cricket board has confirmed that they will meet Ireland to play 2 T20I series in the month of August 2022 on the surface of Ireland. All the matches of the Ireland vs South Africa T20 series 2022 will be contested at the same venue i.e, Bristol. The first match of the series will be played on 3rd August 2022 and the series will end with the last match on 5th August 2022 in Bristol.
Ireland will play all their 2 T20 international matches under the leadership of Andrew Balbirnie and Heinrich Malan will guide them as a coach. On the other hand, South Africa will face Ireland under the captaincy of Temba Bavuma and Mark Boucher will be their head coach. The team Ireland is currently at the number 15th position in the ICC T20 team ranking whereas South Africa is sitting at the number 5th position. The upcoming series of Ireland with South Africa and India will be beneficial as they can take these series as preparation for the T20 World Cup 2022 which will take place in Australia at the end of this year.
Ireland and South Africa have faced each other in the T20 international matches on 3 occasions and Ireland was defeated by South Africa every time. Ireland played their maiden T20 international against Scotland and since then they have appeared in the 122 T20 matches where they got the victory in 52 matches and lost 61 matches. On the other hand, South Africa has taken part in the 147 T20 international matches out of which they won 85 T20I and lost 60 matches.
Both the teams have no comparison in terms of numbers but it would be interesting to watch Irish players playing against South Africa in the upcoming month of August.
