The Tallawahs make it to the 2nd semi finals despite of a top order collapse - After the league stages of the Caribbean Premiere League the 1st semi-final was staged in the Warner Park at Basseterre. The match was played between the Jamaica Tallawahs and Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel. These were the two teams who were regarded as the best teams of the tournament. After winning the toss the Tallawahs decided to field first. The Red Steel lost 3 wickets in the first 6 overs with the 2 wickets falling in the 6th over of the match. The fall of quick wickets took the team to the back foot in the semi-final. Ross Taylor and Darren Bravo together stitched a partnership that took their team to 146 runs in 18.2 overs. Taylor after playing a knock of 70 runs in 44 balls lost his wicket. This was the time when Red Steel lost its way. The last 10 balls didn’t work out and failed to score runs pretty easily. The team ended their 1st innings at 155 runs after 20 overs. David Bernard was the top bowler as he took 3 wickets in the game.

The Tallawahs didn’t have the best of starts that a team would want in a semi-final. In first 7 overs the team lost 4 wickets at a score of 39. Nkrumah Bonner handled the run scoring for the Tallawahs as he scored 39 runs and on the other hand David Bernard supported him well by keeping his wicket intact. He lost his wicket in the 13th over which brought in Andre Russell to the crease. Last year he was the hero for Tallawahs in the final match and yet again the stage was set for him. In 27 balls he scored 62 runs and thus taking his team to the match where they will face the Guyana Amazon Warriors to enter the final of the tournament with 2 balls remaining. He was named as the man of the match for his brilliant batting.
