Shikhar Dhawan and Parthiv Patel take their team to the 1st win in the tournament - The 2nd qualifying match of the Champions League T20 was played between the Kandurata Maroons and Sunrisers Hyderabad. This was the match played between the team from Sri Lanka and India. The qualifying match was played in the PCA stadium situated in Mohali. After winning the toss Sunrisers Hyderabad decided to field first. Batting first Upul Tharanga managed to give his team a good start by scoring some quick runs. After getting a good start the Maroons lost both the openers in the first 6 overs. Later Kumar Sangakkara and Lahiru Thirimanne came into guide their team out of trouble. Thirimanne after scoring 54 runs lost his wicket in the 16th over. He left his team at 122 runs. Dilhara Lokuhettige joined Sangakkara to make sure that his team gains from the momentum achieved. Sangakkara was unbeaten at 61 while Dilhara scored 21 runs to take his team to a total of 168 runs in 20 overs. Ishant Sharma took 2 wickets in the match.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to a solid start. Parthiv Patel and Shikhar Dhawan both scored 121 runs for the 1st wicket. Parthiv Patel scored 52 runs before he lost his wicket in the 14th over of the game. The 2nd wicket fell in the 1st ball of the 17th over when Shikhar Dhawan after scoring 71 runs left his team at a score of 136. The finishing touch was provided by Thisara Perera as he scored 32 runs in 11 balls to take his team to the 1st win in the qualifying round. Shehan Jayasuriya was the best bowler for Maroons as he took 1 wicket giving away at an economy rate of 6.25. Shikhar Dhawan was rightly named as the man of the match for earning the important 4 points with his batting.
