It will be the very same day when Australia will be initiating the 4th test match of the Ashes series, New Zealand will take on the young West Indians for the first match of the ODI series starting from 26th Dec. This is anticipated to be one of the most important series for the future of the two teams. The West Indians have shown in recent times that they are again on the rise and where as the Kiwi’s have always been the underdogs in most of the cases. This will obviously be the beginning of the clash of the two underdogs and both will do enough to prove them as the better ones.
When the two teams take up the ground on 26th, there will be a lot on expectations from the West Indians because they have had some great performance in favour of them in the past. The two teams have had some hefty records against them with Brian Charles Lara being the highest run getter for the West Indies in the past. Nathan Astle holds the record for the Kiwis and both are not the members of the present sides. Daniel Vettori has been the most successful bowler against the West Indians and for the West Indians the record is with Courtney Walsh. The teams have not actually seen a lot of the other in the past and this will be a great occasion for the uplift in the stature of the team.
Both New Zealand and West Indies are packed with power hitters and great bowlers. A lot will be expected from the likes of Brendon McCullum and Martin Guptil. But thinking of these people one must not at all forget the players like Dwayne Bravo, Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard, who can be demolishing on their day. All in all, the series will have its own thrills and chills. The pavement will be paved all on the first match itself on 26th of Jan.
