Bangladesh batting overpowers Scotland in a Pool A match - The 27th match of the World Cup 2015 saw two teams from Pool A fight it out against each other. Bangladesh who was looking strong in this world cup was to fight it out against Scotland. It was a chance for the associate nation to challenge the Bangladesh’s test status. In this match Bangladesh after winning the toss elected to field first.
Calum MacLeod lost his wicket early after scoring only 11 runs. Hamish Gardiner too after scoring 19 runs lost his wicket bringing the Scottish team in trouble. Kyle Coetzer the other opener then came and tried to come into picture and he alone started scoring runs for his team. He alone scored 156 runs for the team while the middle order players came in to help Coetzer. Matt Machan and Preston Mommsen scored 35 and 39 runs respectively. The Scottish team batted well with the help of their opener Coetzer and they posted a score of 318 runs in 50 overs. Taskin Ahmed was the best bowler for Bangladesh as he took 3 wickets for his team.
The Bangladesh batting needed some great efforts to achieve this target as till date Bangladesh has never scored this amount of runs in the World Cup tournament. Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah gave their team the perfect start taking their team to the score of 144 runs in 24th over of the game. Mahmudullah after scoring 62 runs lost his wicket bringing in Mushfiqur Rahim. Iqbal after scoring 95 runs lost his wicket but before giving away his wicket he had done his work with the bat. The middle order came together scoring runs to make sure that the start was not wasted. Rahim scored 60 odd runs while Shakib Al Hasan and Sabbir Rahman scored 52 and 42 runs respectively to take the team home with 322 runs. Bangladesh continued there splendid display and earned two points. Coetzer the Scottish opener won the match.
